Hershell "Dunny" Hodges Jr.

Hershell “Dunny” Hodges Jr. passed away on June 29, 2021 while traveling with his wife and friends, a favorite pastime of his, at the age of 51 in Utah. He was born on September 5, 1969 in Baton Rouge, La to the late Hershell “Butch” Hodges Sr. and Alice Jannise Hodges. He was the loving husband of Jeanine Reeves Hodges, they together moved to French Settlement in 1994 where they built a loving home to raise their children. He was the caring and dedicated father of Dyllan Keith Hodges, Lauren Nicole Raffray (Tony), Kristen Marie Lalonde (Blake) and Roman Blake Hodges, and the lucky “Paw” to his grandchildren; Aria Raffray, Josiah Hodges, Olivia Hodges and Baby Raffray on the way. He is also survived by his sister Patricia Clayton (Wade), his mother and father in law; Billy and Patsy Stephens Reeves and his sister in laws; Melissa Delatte (Stephen) and Stacy Lanoux (Gabe) and numerous nieces, nephews and special family friends the Galloways. Hershell loved cooking, traveling and being outdoors, whether he was out hunting, horse back riding or on a hike in the mountains. One of his favorite spots to visit was Cade’s Cove, he always enjoyed seeing the bears, fireflies and listening to the sound of a majestic creek. Hershell never met a stranger and always had a heart of gold. His love for his family was more than words could express, they were his world. His jubilant smile will surely be missed by all of those who knew and loved him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a wake at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 5PM until 8PM. The visitation will continue on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement from 9AM until the time of Mass at 11AM.
