

Hubert T. Nicholas Jr., a retired plant operator from Texaco / Star Enterprise in Convent, La and a resident of Gonzales, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in New Orleans. He was 74 years old and a native of Lutcher. A private service in his honor will be held Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales. Family and friends are welcome to the family home at 3 p.m. on Sunday. Nicholas was a U.S. Army veteran, who was a police officer and detective, earned a medal in National Defense Services, served his country from 1967 to 1971. He was a fan of NASCAR racing, Ford Motor Company trucks, fishing, traveling, wood working and was known to be able to repair or build anything. He was known by family and friends as Jr., Nick and Ubee. He is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Katherine (Katie) M. Nicholas of Gonzales, and Theresa and Mike O'Kelly of Memphis, Tennessee; his 2-year-old grandson, Nolan and his grand-dog Baxter; his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Irene Nicholas of Prairieville; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty (Elton) Rodrigue of Gramercy, Lena (Clarence) Becnel of Lutcher, and Doris (Milton) Martinez of Gonzales; and sister-in-law, Leana (Murphy) Nicholas Ockman. He was parrin to Shane Martinez, Julie Wiley Stienger, Tony Nicholas, and Marla Rodrigue Brignac. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 44 years, Linda Dudek Nicholas; his parents, Hubert T. Nicholas Sr. and Beatrice Marie Nicholas; his brother, Murphy Nicholas; and two infant sisters. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at University Medical Center.
