Jack DeWitt Austen Jr.

Gonzales, LA-----Dr. Jack DeWitt Austen, Jr. 71 passed away November 11, 2015 at his residence in Metairie, LA. He was born November 14, 1943 in Boston, MA. Dr. Austen was a Microbiologist by profession and was Chief Microbiologist at Metairie Small Animal Clinic. Dr. Austen earned his B.A. from Nichols State, earned his Master’s Degree from Southeastern and his Ph.D. from Texas A& M. Dr. Austen enjoyed participating in AKA dog shows, which he received several medals.

He is survived by his son, Kyle Sadler of New Caney, TX ; sisters, Patricia A. Theriot of Galvez, LA and Judy A. Firmin of Prairieville, LA

Dr. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Jack D. Austen, Sr. and Patricia Byrnes Austen.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, November 30, 2015 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Prairieville at 9:30 am. He will be laid to rest in Holy Savoir Catholic Church Mausoleum in Lockport, LA.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial donation to the charity of your choosing in Dr. Austen’s name.
