

Jan McElwee passed away the afternoon of October 6, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was born in Rayville, Louisiana 64 years ago on January 16, 1952; she attended elementary school in Monroe, Louisiana and graduated from Mangham High School in Mangham, Louisiana.
She was married for 25 years to her best friend and the love of her life, Mr. Chester William “Chet” Morris. The two of them shared and enjoyed many things together but more than anything they shared a passion for the outdoors-- particularly fishing. Mrs. McElwee was a selfless and loving mother, and she adored and was adored by her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Chet; and her parents Carson Eugene and Mary Louise Roberts. She leaves behind many survivors whom she cherished: her children; daughter, Tesha Jackson of Zachary; and son, Bradley McElwee of Prairieville; her sister, Pamela Thibodeaux of Covington; her niece, Lisa Metevier and nephew Jean Thibodeaux, both of Covington. She also leaves behind six grandchildren: Caleb, Cole, and Jack-Cameron Jackson; and Connor, Carson, and Cade McElwee. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Bonnye Larimore for her loving care and loyalty. They would also like to thank Pamela Martin who took such remarkable care of Jan at St. Joseph’s.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 10th at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales beginning at 11 o’clock. Reverend Mike Robertson will officiate. Friends and family are invited to gather before the service from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to C.A.S.T. at https://impact.castforkids.org. C.A.S.T. is a fishing charity that services special needs children and wounded veterans. Funeral services are under the direction of Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales.
