

Janice Virginia Wilks Bovia was surrounded by family and friends when she peacefully joined the Lord on October 21, 2013 at 2:20 pm at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, LA after a long ten year battle with COPD. Janice was 55 years old. She was born the youngest of four children in Baton Rouge on July 9, 1958. Janice met and married the love of her life, Murphy Bovia, Jr., at a very young age and has shared almost 40 years of some rough and wonderful memories. She retired as an EBR school bus driver after 28 years of service. Janice was a big animal lover and an avid fan of LSU sports, especially baseball. She finally was able to attend the National Championships in Omaha. Janice is survived by her husband Murphy Joseph Bovia, Jr.; her brother, Mike Wilks; brother in-law, Dwayne Bovia; sisters in law, Pam Munson and Cheryl Gebhart Wilks; three children, Christopher Bovia, Sharon Quasdorf and her husband, Robert and Jennifer Mumphrey and her husband, Jamie. She had eight grandchildren Cy, Lucas, Noah, and Katie Bovia, Jace and Sadie Quasdorf and Gabriel and Caleb Mumphrey. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret Reed Wilks; two brothers, Timothy Wilks and David Wilks. The family will be receiving visitors on Wednesday, October 23 from 5 pm to 9pm at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 10 am at Maurepas Cemetery.The family wishes to thank Dr. Mark Hodges for his care and treatment, and her best friend, Brenda Simonneaux, for her love and compassion.
