

Jerry Ray Thibeau, age 85, a native of Lake, LA, and resident of Prairieville, LA, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024. Jerry, a retired BASF Supervisor with 30 years of service, was a multifaceted individual who held various roles throughout his life, including Real Estate Broker, Building Contractor, Barber, and proud member of the Louisiana National Guard. Survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Ruthella "Tut" Thibeau (married on May 24, 1957), Jerry leaves behind a legacy of a tightly-knit family. He is survived by three daughters: Lisa Villeneuve (C.J.), Lenny Gremillion (Rodney), Dana Guedry (Glen), and one son, Brett Thibeau Sr (Cindy). Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Carolyn Hanna (Don). Jerry was a devoted family man, leaving behind a cherished legacy of ten grandchildren: Dustin Capell, Chet Villeneuve (Krystal), Chase Guedry (Sarah), Kalyn Edward (Blaine), Chelsey Capell, Cole Villeneuve, Brett Thibeau Jr, Brady Thibeau, Brian Gremillion (April), and Jeff Gremillion (Kristen). He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents, Leo W. and Stella M. Thibeau, and grandson, Cade Villeneuve, Jerry is now at peace. Pallbearers at his memorial service will include Dustin Capell, Chet Villeneuve, Chase Guedry, Cole Villeneuve, Brett Thibeau Jr, and Brady Thibeau. Honorary Pallbearers will be Peyton Haydel, Kade Villeneuve, Gavyn Guedry, Dylan Capell-Gremillion, and Ryder Edward. Jerry's impact extended beyond his family. He was a member of the Ascension-St. James Airport Authority and served as the Vice President of the Amite River Basin Commission. His hobbies included gardening, cattle farming, and engaging in morning coffee discussions with friends about politics. Jerry took immense joy in attending all his grandchildren's sporting events. The family expresses special gratitude to his exceptional caregiver, Rita Cannon, who provided unwavering support during the last 8 months of his life. Thanks also go to Dr. John Fraiche, a longtime friend and doctor, and the compassionate nurses at St. Joseph's Hospice. A visitation for Jerry will be held on Friday, February 2, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Highway 621, Gonzales, LA 70737. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 PM. The burial will take place at 2:00 PM at Carpenter's Chapel Cemetery, 17121 Carpenter's Chapel Rd, Prairieville, LA.
