A native of White Castle, Louisiana. He was the son of a sugar cane farmer and a WCHS alumnus. He served overseas as a Marine during the Vietnam War. He would tell everyone who asked him about his service that he served, “4 years, 68 days and 6 hours.” He and Theresa moved from White Castle to Prairieville to be closer to his daughters and grandchildren. He worked as an operator for Southern Natural Gas. After retiring from Southern Natural, he worked for Cora Texas Sugar Mill, Old Hickory Shipping, MEI and was working for Penske Trucking when he became ill.
He loved LSU sports, camping, dancing, and playing with his grandkids. He loved to listen to swamp pop music on Saturday mornings or live at a festival. He had a deep sense of humor and really enjoyed the big and small moments of life. He was always there for whoever needed him. He had a great collection of tools and could fix anything. He really appreciated family and friends. He was a great person to talk and visit with in the living room or the back porch.
The family sends special thanks to Ascension Oaks Nursing Home, Bridgeway Hospice and Dawn Drago’s On-Site Sitters for their care and support.
