

GONZALES – Memorial Services will be conducted for Mr. John Burrows Johnson, Sr., age 85, at 11:00 am Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Jones officiating and military honors by the Fort Polk Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Saturday at Ourso Funeral Home from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. Inurnment will be held privately at a later date.
A native of Cordova, Tennessee and a resident of Gonzales, Mr. Johnson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 10, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Johnson was a Korean War Veteran having served as a Sargent in the United States Army. He enjoyed fishing, gun smithing, hot rodding, family get togethers and spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. The family would like to thank Trudy Brooks with the PHS staff and New Century Generations Hospice for everything they did for Mr. Johnson and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Bernie Mae Wescott Johnson; daughters, Chryle Ann Johnson Clebert and husband Ed, Vickie Lynn Johnson Duplessis and husband Burt; sons, John Burrows Johnson, Jr. and wife Donna, Clifford Allen Johnson, Sr. and wife Charla, Kenneth Eugene Johnson and wife Debbie; sister, Nancy Ellen Johnson Noss and husband Richard Glenn; sister-in-law, Marcia Johnson; grandchildren, Brad Paul Duplessis and fiancé Sarah Hughes, Talmage Michael Duplessis, Ashley Michelle Duplessis, Elizabeth Ann Johnson and fiancé Nathanael Avara, Megan Leigh Johnson, Hannah Nicole Johnson, Jacob Burrows Johnson, Nina Ann Johnson, Clifford Allen Johnson, Jr. and dear friends, Leonard and Dorothy Ciarloni.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Nolen Johnson, Sr. and Mamie Burrows Johnson and brothers, James Nolen Johnson, Jr. and Andrew Finley Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Duplessis, Tag Duplessis, Jacob Johnson, Bay Johnson, Lee Janies, Gene Coats, Edward Prejean, Keith Nichols, Bill Wescott, Leonard Ciarloni, Al Cavalier and Clifford Dies.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International, Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) or any local hospice agency.
