John Haydel Jr.

John Baptiste Haydel Jr., age 82, passed away at his home on November 9, 2023. A native of Lutcher, LA and a longtime resident of Gonzales, LA. Born on October 17, 1941 to the late Madeline and John Haydel Sr. He is survived by his wife Linda Hymel Haydel, his daughters; Renee Martine (Shawn) and Stacy Lavigne (David), his sons; Billy Haydel (Daria) and Joey Haydel, his grandchildren; Jesse Haydel (Killian), Amanda Sheets (Kade), Julie Haydel, Chelsea Haydel (Clint), Brady Martine (Christyn), Shelbi Haydel, Corrie Martine, Chaz Haydel (Ashton), Kailee Lavigne and Ashtyn Lavigne and 17 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings; Yvonne Torres, Mary Ann O’Brien and Leonce Haydel. He will be missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

John proudly served in the US Navy as a young man. He was always a hardworking man and did everything he could to provide a wonderful life for his family. He enjoyed working out in his yard and tending to the house. In his early years he was an All State baseball and basketball player. He ran marathons and could regularly be spotted at the gym. John enjoyed going to local flea markets and garage sales where he would add to his very large collection of uncollectable items. Always giving you his advice, even when unsolicited, but always from the heart. His humor and warm smile will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation for John on Monday, November 13, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, followed by a celebration of life service at 11:00 AM.
