
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Gail Ann Braud Decoteau, three sons; Christopher “Butch” Decoteau and his wife Melanie (Breaux) of Prairieville, Mathew Decoteau and his wife Bethe (Hanson) of Prairieville, Thomas Decoteau and his wife Bonnie (Hurley) of Dutchtown, one daughter, Angela Decoteau Manuel and her husband Michael of Ville Platte, and one sister; Janet Decoteau Braud of Dutchtown. He is also survived by four grandsons, four granddaughters, and one great-grandson.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents Leonard Decoteau and Modeste Landry Decoteau, and his sister Catherine Decoteau Copponex.
Born in Dutchtown on March 20, 1929, Curtis was a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. He served in the Navy and was a wartime veteran of the Korean War. Curtis had a long career at BASF Wyandotte in Geismar and at Nalco Chemical (SMI) in Garyville.
Visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church in Prairieville on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 beginning at 9:30am until mass of Christian burial at 11:00am celebrated by Fr. Jerry Martin. Interment will follow at the Prairieville Community Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. John the Evangelist Building Fund.
