
A native and resident of Gonzales, he passed away on Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at the age of 75. He was a retired plant operator for Texaco, a sugar-cane farmer and did dirt work. A veteran of the Coast Guard, he loved spending time with his family and friends, camping, traveling and visiting. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Vernell Kling Mire; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Maria and Gary Daigle, of Chicago, Susan Glatt, and Nancy and Todd LeBlanc, all of Gonzales; a son and daughter-in-law, Peter and Pam Mire, of Gonzales; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Myra Mire and Donnie and Gatis Mire; 12 grandchildren, Ashley Painter, Britné Edmonston, Brienne Gaudin, Jonathan and Jori Mire, Erin, Paige and Grant Daigle, and Alaina, Jarrod, Jake, and Jorda LeBlanc; and four great-grandchildren, Cullen Edmonston, Kenzie Gaudin, Austin Mayers and Brooklyn Painter. Preceded in death by his parents, Athos "A.D." and Blanche Braud Mire; a son, John Dally Mire; and granddaughter, Kristen Margaret Glatt. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Visitation will resume at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Thursday, Feb. 2, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Mike Galea celebrant. Burial will follow in Cornerview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Mire, Jarrod LeBlanc, Jake LeBlanc, Jorda LeBlanc, Grant Daigle and Josh Medernach.
