Karl Edmund Brammer, 94, passed away of natural causes on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at Azalea Estates while being comforted by his loving wife of 70 years, Janice Normand Brammer. Karl was born September 5, 1920, in Lake Charles where he was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, graduated from high school in Lake Charles and was employed by Olin Chemical. In 1957, Karl moved his family to Gonzales where he was the Purchasing Agent for Ormet Alumina and Burnside Terminals for 25 years until his retirement. Karl's response to God's great love came through to everyone with whom he came in touch. Karl could tell a joke and make anyone smile. His desire to serve the Lord led him and other faithful servants to begin St. James Lutheran Church in Gonzales in 1972. He was quick to say to any checkout clerk, "Hope you have a short day," and he loved to have conversations with children. His great love of music was evident as he played the piano, sang hymns, and encouraged his own children with music lessons. He could tell a tale as well as listen intently. He loved his children, adored his grandchildren and delighted in his great grandchildren. He loved his wife, Janice and would talk with her often about their years of abundant memories.
