Larry passed away peacefully surrounded by family at The Crossing at Clarity Hospice, in Baton Rouge on November 24, 2021 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease. He was born on November 2, 1942 in Galvez, LA to Glen and Stella Mae Keller Williams. He was the oldest of three children. Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cathi Carlin Williams, son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Melanie Panepinto Williams, daughter, Colleen Williams Babin, grandsons, Reed and Cooper Williams, brother Gerald (Sheryl) Williams and sister Wanda (Wayne) Courville. Two bonus grandsons, Taylor and Turner Goldsmith. Larry was a respected educator, administrator and coach in the Ascension Parish School System. He dedicated his career to the children and athletes of Ascension Parish. Most recently he was proud to cheer on his grandsons at their football and baseball games. He was an avid reader and a passionate sports fan following his favorites; The LSU Tigers in football, basketball and baseball, The New Orleans Saints, The New Orleans Pelicans and his beloved St. Amant Gators. He was a mentor to many. A great husband, father, grandfather, brother, teacher, coach and loyal friend. Larry’s self-proclaimed fame was that he was a member of the 1960 Gonzales High School State Championship Baseball Team. And, he was the first baseball coach for the St. Amant Gators, having built the first baseball field with his Dad’s tractor. He lived most of his life in Gonzales, LA and eight years ago moved to Sunshine, LA to be with his family and grandsons. He was graciously welcomed to Sunshine by the Panepinto, Michel and Peltier families who treated him like their own family. The past eight years were the best years of his life surrounded by family. He was a great man and will be missed by many. A celebration of his life will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, on Friday, December 3, with visitation from 10-1 followed by a memorial service at 1.
