Laura Fontenot Savoy

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Mrs. Laura Fontenot Savoy at 11:00 am, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Visitation will take place prior to the service from 9:00 am until 11:00 am with the Rosary at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at the church mausoleum. Mrs. Savoy passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was 81 years old. Mrs. Savoy was a retired school bus driver for the Ascension Parish School Board where she worked for many years. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family at gatherings and camping trips. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Mrs. Savoy is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Savoy, Sr.; son, John Savoy, Jr.; daughters, Laura Gayle Chapman, Susan Feazel and husband William, Rebecca Tambling and husband Dwayne, D-D Mitchell and husband Andy, Barbara Dean and husband Ronnie; sister, Geraldine Sziber, 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon Marie Savoy; grandson, Jarred John Feazel; brothers, “Sonny” Lovance Fontenot, Matthew Fontenot and sister, Juanita Cline. Mrs. Savoy’s grandsons and nephew will serve as pallbearers. Ourso Funeral Home of Gonzales (www.oursofh.com) is in charge of arrangements.
