Mr. Bridgewater was a Chef by profession. Mr. Bridgewater was an Army Veteran who served his country from May 17th, 1951 to November 15th, 1956 and a member of The American Legion Post #560. Mr. Bridgewater was a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church of Baton Rouge, LA.
Survivors: His wife Mrs. Thelma Mae Jones Bridgewater of Prairieville, La.
3 daughters: Sonja Bridgewater Lampton of Prairieville, LA; Carolyn Kate Bridgewater of Prairieville, LA; Lori Bridgewater Morris of Baton Rouge, LA.
5 sons: Ronald C. Gathe, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; Leroy Bridgewater, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; Carl Bridgewater, Sr. of Prairieville, LA; Alvin Bridgewater, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; Joseph Bridgewater, Sr. of New Orleans, LA.
2 brothers: Lloyd Bridgewater of New Roads, LA and Clarence Brown of New Roads, LA.
15 Grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his mother Leola Johnson; his father LeJeune Bridgewater; sister Audrey B. Valeary; brother Herbert Bryant; Son John C. Gathe, Jr.; Grandsons John C. Gathe, III and Rendon Theroy Gathe.
Visitation will be from 8am to 9 am Friday, September 4th, 2015 at Bethel A.M.E. Church, located at 1358 South Boulevard, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 with services at 9am. Dr. Herman O. Kelly, Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Louisiana National Cemetery in Zachary, LA
