It is with deep sadness and profound love that we share the passing of Lillian Marie Samson Guitreau, an extraordinary woman whose boundless spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. Lillian, 73, a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Prairieville, LA passed away peacefully on Friday November 1, 2024. She was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and Louisiana State University where she majored in Speech and Hearing Therapy and minored in Library Science. She and her husband Richard were longtime members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville. Lillian was the foundation of our family, a guiding light whose warmth and selflessness inspired us to pursue our dreams and live life with purpose. As a devoted mother, cherished wife, and a grandmother beyond compare, she poured her heart and soul into the people she held dearest. Throughout her life, Lillian embraced her roles with unmatched passion and unwavering dedication. As a mother, she was our greatest champion, believing in us, even when we doubted ourselves. Her love was the kind that empowered, the kind that made anything seem possible. As a wife, she stood as a pillar of strength and partnership, sharing every moment with joy, laughter, and unyielding support. Her most treasured role was that of a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she reveled in every milestone, every laugh, and every story shared. She was a source of endless fun, comfort, and wisdom—a super-grandmother who created memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. She was not just a member of our family; she was the heartbeat of it. Her kindness knew no bounds, and her belief in us gave us the courage to achieve more than we ever imagined. She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard John Guitreau; her children, Amy Guitreau Terigar and wife Beatrice, Ryan John Guitreau and wife Heather; grandchildren, Seth and fiancée Gracie, Riley, Reed, and Evan; sisters, Diane Triche, Janet Lorena and husband Tony; brother, Joseph Dona Samson Jr. and wife Annette. Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Dona Samson Sr. and Velma Bourgeois Samson; in-laws, Edward Leslie Guitreau and Doris Amy Guitreau; and sister-in-law, Karen Theriot Samson. Visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 5pm until 8pm. The rosary will be prayed at 6:30pm. The services will be continuing at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Prairieville on Friday, November 8 from 10am until Mass time at 11:30am. Interment will follow in Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville. Pallbearers will be Ryan Guitreau, Seth Wyble, Michael Brown, Trey Guitreau, Lee Michael Lorena, JD Samson Jr., Anthony Triche, and Christopher King. While our hearts are heavy with loss, we celebrate the incredible life she led and the profound impact she had on each one of us. We will carry her love and lessons forward, honoring her memory by living with the same passion, love, and commitment that she so beautifully exemplified. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
