

"I have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith." Resident of French Settlement, she passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Ascension Oaks. Visiting at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement on May 17, 2011 from 8:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, with Father Jason Palermo and Deacon Jimmy Little officiating. Burial to follow at French Settlement Community Cemetery. She was 86 years old. Survived by her daughter, Joan and husband Butch Porche, of French Settlement; six sisters, Flossie Fontenot and Shirley Fontenot, of Ville Platte, Sis Pilgrim and Barbara Reed, of Eunice, Pat Courville of Gonzales, and Jane Guttuso of New Jersey; three brothers, J.C. Soileau, of Bell Chase, Vernell Soileau, of Eunice, and Winston Soileau, of Mamou; grandson, Chad Porche; two great grandsons, Austin Porche and Ethan Porche. Preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Smith; parents, Charles and Lozy Soileau; and a brother, Sylvan Soileau.
