

Malcolm “Joe” Melancon, age 77 and a resident of St. Amant, La passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He retired from Wyatt Field Service and was a United States Air Force veteran. Joe loved NASCAR, riding motorcycles with his sons, camping and he loved to work. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia “Patty” Newhouse Melancon, sons, Joey Melancon (Missy) and Chad Melancon (Debra); Grandchildren, Seth, Hunter, Hallie, and Karlie Melancon, and great-granddaughter, Danica Larpenter. He is also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan Melancon, Pam Melancon, Ronnie and Linda Newhouse, Greg and Mic Newhouse, Tim Newhouse, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Beulah Duncan Melancon, brothers, Melvin (his twin brother), Sedgie, and Jesse Melancon; sister-in-law, Delores Melancon; niece, Kelly Jo Hutchinson; nephew, Sedgie “Fuzzy” Melancon Jr., and father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Lyla Newhouse. A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, from 10 am until the memorial service at 12 pm followed by a reception at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy, Gonzales, La. He will be laid to rest on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 1 pm at Hope Haven Garden of Memory Cemetery, 604 E. Hwy 30 Gonzales, La. Arrangements by Ourso Funeral Home.
