Marshall Lawrence Woodard Sr., age 70, passed away on April 25, 2026, at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Marshall was a long-time resident of Prairieville, where he lived for the past 40 years.
Marshall was a retired heavy equipment and crane operator on the river, dedicating many years of his career to Hall Buck Marine. He was known for his steady presence throughout his years on the river. After retirement, he took great pride in working with his first cousin James Nolan (Gail) at Parish Ready Mix. Being part of the team kept him active and gave him continued purpose. Marshall always looked forward to time at the camp, which was one of his favorite places to be. He especially enjoyed spending time there with his first cousins James, Kenny, Bobby, and Nelda, along with his grandchildren and family. Those moments brought him joy, laughter, and the simple comfort of togetherness that he deeply valued. He enjoyed talking about fishing and hunting and took great pride in watching his grandson’s deer hunt. He never turned down a good game of dominoes and found happiness in life’s simple moments surrounded by those he loved. Above all, Marshall was a family man. He loved his family deeply and enjoyed every moment spent with them. He was a man with a quick-witted personality and a natural humor that kept those around him smiling. If Marshall cared about you, he likely joked with you too.
Marshall is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Woodard; his children, Marshall Woodard Jr.(Nikki), Heather Millis (Rex), and Aimee DeGregorio (Lynndell); his grandchildren, Emily Mayfield (Ben), Joseph Woodard (Sarah), Lauren Moody (Duke), Jessica Deville (JE), Anna Deville, Ethan Deville, Alyssa DeGregorio, Aiden DeGregorio, Andrew DeGregorio, Lynndell Augillard Jr., Shawn Garantine, and Logan Calley; 7 great-grandchildren; his sisters Agnes Warren, Theresa Rodgers, and Sherry Noland; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Muriel Woodard; his sister, Linda Knight; and nephew, Joe Alan “Bo Bo” Knight.
Marshall’s quick-witted personality will be deeply missed. His memory will live on in everyone who knew and loved him.
Services will be held at Ourso Funeral Home, 13533 Airline Hwy. Gonzales, Louisiana 70737, on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with services beginning at 5:00 p.m.
