

GONZALES – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Matthew “Dee” Gautreau, age 84, at 1:00 pm, Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales. Interment will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memories in Gonzales with military honors by Fort Polk Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Ourso Funeral Home. A native of Brittany and resident of Gonzales, Mr. Dee passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Laverne Laiche Gautreau; daughters, Cynthia Gautreau Daigle and husband, Randall, Kim Gautreau Sevario; sons, Kelly Gautreau, Corey Gautreau; sister, Carolyn Wells; brother, Dennis J. Gautreau; grandchildren, Candace Gautreau Steely and husband Jason, Landen and Lauren Sevario, Alexis Gautreau; great-grandchildren, Tylar and Travis Steely. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dennis P. Gautreau and Cecilia Decoteau Gautreau; sisters, Val Fife, Lula Bell G. Brignac, Martha G. Purdue, Shirley G. Granier; brothers, Vernon Gautreau and Alex Gautreau. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War and a member of the VFW. Mr. Dee loved to dance, fish, and hunt. He also enjoyed cooking and playing cards with old friends. In 1978, Mr. Dee won the world champion Jambalaya cooking contest which allowed him to travel to France and cook all over the U.S. He was the owner and operator of Dee’s Cajun Catering.
