
Maud Brashear Shows, native of Baker, LA and resident of Darrow, LA passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 in Darrow at the age of 101 years old. Maud was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Darrow.
Survived by her 2 daughters, Priscilla Shows Robert and husband John, Joan Shows Melancon; son, Auber “Skipper” Shows, Jr. and wife Peggy; 20 grandchildren; 68 great grandchildren and 22 great-great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Robert Brashear and Annie Elizabeth “Bessie” Weaver Brashear; husband, Auber Shows, Sr.; 2 sons, Joseph W. and Larry E. Shows; daughter-in-law, Ann Shows, son-in-law, Melvin Melancon; 5 sisters, Mary Crochet, Elma Dougherty, Bessie “Tot” Brown, Irene Hirtzler and Vivian Whittington; 5 brothers, Roy, Leo, Jesse, Nap “Bick” and Raymond Brashear; 1 great-great grandchild, Meredith Lee.
Visitation will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Baker on Saturday, January 26 2019 from 9AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM, celebrated by Rev. Kim Soo Lee and concelebrated by Rev. Frank Bass. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum in Baker. Pallbearers will be John Robert, Jr., Joseph W. Shows, Jr., Christopher Robert, James Shows, Auber “Skip” Shows, III, Michael Robert, Melvin Melancon, Jr., Matthew Robert, Jason Shows, Timmy Carter and Kevin Shows.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations can be made to Pinnacle Hospice, 5627 S. Sherwood Forest Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. Their dedication, professionalism and loving assistance was greatly appreciated. The family would also like to thank their mother’s two caregivers, Ms. Susan Williams, granddaughter and Ms. Elizabeth Lagattuta for their loving and compassionate care for the last 4 years.
