Patricia Ann Lousteau Percy was born on June 3, 1949 in New Orleans, Louisiana to A.J. and Fabienne Lousteau. The eldest of nine children, Patti grew up in Gonzales, Louisiana and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy. She attended Louisiana State University, where she met and married Robert Ryland Percy, III.
Despite repeatedly stating she didn’t want to have children, Ryland wore her down and they welcomed five children, with Tess and Ben being born on Guam during Ryland’s United States Navy deployment. Upon returning stateside, Ryland and Patti returned to Baton Rouge for Ryland to enter law school, before ultimately moving to Gonzales, where they welcomed Colin, Adam and Matthew into the family.
Patti worked as a homemaker, art teacher at La Maison des Enfants, receptionist at Lousteau Ford, and illustrator at Ragsland Clothing.
Her true talent was in art, with her numerous painting, sewing and knitting projects always on display. In 1991, Patti returned to LSU to obtain her degree in Interior Design while fighting cancer at the same time. Her eye for design and color was amazing. It should also be noted she was frequently referred to as “Dr. Patti” within the family due to her “extensive” medical knowledge. She was never afraid to try a new endeavor, whether it be coaching boys’ soccer or playing tennis, which all found amusing as she hated both sports and going outside. But what Patti truly loved was her family. Just two days before her passing, she and Ryland celebrated 56 years of marriage. She was proud of her children and their spouses and was especially in love with each of her grandchildren. She knew how to fill a home with food and laughter, was an amazing gift giver and was always ready to give advice, telling you exactly what she thought about a situation. Her wit and candor will be greatly missed.
Patti is survived by her husband, Robert Ryland Percy, III, of 56 years; her daughter Katherine Tess Percy Stromberg (Lee), Benjamin Ryland Percy (Bethany), Colin Andrew Percy (Michele), Adam Conner Percy (Meredith) and Matthew Ian Percy (Kaylin). She is also survived by her grandchildren: William, Ian and James Percy; Paige, Lily and Cannon Percy; Hadley and Cullen Percy; River and Poppy Percy, and Grayson, Finn and Rowan Stromberg; as well as numerous siblings and brothers and sisters in law. The family would like to especially recognize her dear friend, Doris Martinez, and sister, Lee Klienpeter, who each showed such love and compassion over the last several years.
Visitation will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church on Saturday, April 11, 2026, beginning at 9:00 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:30 AM. The Committal Service will take place immediately afterwards at Serenity Oaks in Prairieville, LA.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made to a charity of your choice.
