Pheral (Engler) Bourque

Born in Carville, LA and a resident of Gonzales, she passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the age of 85. She was a meticulous homemaker and a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, watching LSU sports and eating out with family and friends.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Melissa Becnel Bourque; daughter and son-in-law, Denee’ and Dale J. Babin; grandchildren, Ian Babin, Quinn Babin, and Daniel Bourque (Ashlen); and great-grandchild, Lyla Grace Bourque; her brother, Stanley Engler; nieces Cherie Templet, Becky Petite (Blaine) and Kristi Granier (Leslie).

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Andrew “J-Boy” Bourque; parents, George and Leona Engler; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gerard “Peter” and Blanche “Botie” Daigle Bourque; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Myles Sr. and Frances Bourque; nephew, Myles Bourque Jr. and nephew-in-law, Larry Templet.

A visitation will be held at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church on Thursday, December 18th from 8:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Cornerview Cemetery, Gonzales. Father Matthew McConahay will officiate.
