He left this world with the soft sound of piano playing in his room and his sons by his side. Most of his working years were spent in sales and as owner of Lafitte Electronics in Gonzales. He retired from Emerson as a Systems Administrator. His father was a piano player in New Orleans and from these roots, music encompassed his entire adult life. His pianos, keyboards, and beloved Hammond B3 organ resonated sounds of joy to thousands of people over the years from Chicago to Louisiana and the whole Gulf Coast. His younger years found him entertaining the patrons of the Brown Door in Hammond, La. His music career saw “Binky” sharing the stage with a number of bands, but perhaps he was most well known for his 27 years with The Velvets and most recently still entertaining the folks at St. James Place. By his amazing grace, God has allowed these musical talents to be passed on to his children.
He is survived by three sons, Philip Edward “Rip” III, Rhett Anthony, and Thad Joseph Glindmeyer, daughter-in-law Xiomara Demeterio Glindmeyer, grand-children Brad Joseph, Kayla Ann, and Xanthe Tesla Glindmeyer, as well as several great-grand-children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elsie Codeanne and Philip Edward Glindmeyer Sr., his grandson Brian Michael Glindmeyer, and his loving partner of 20 years, Shirley Rogers Thibodeaux.
Viewing and prayer services will be held at Ourso funeral home in Gonzales on Monday October 25th from 5pm to 8pm and his remains will be interred in a private ceremony. A very special thanks to the doctors and staff at Ochsner Hospital for the treatment and care he received there.
