Rachael Gomez Acosta passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the age of 56. Rachael was a native of Plaquemine, LA and a resident of Gonzales, LA. She was a long-time personal trainer and remained an avid fitness and health enthusiast. She took great care of herself so she could take superior care of her family. She was a proud wife, mother, and Gigi and loved her family fiercely.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 37 years, Damian Acosta; daughter, Morgan Acosta; son, Jake Acosta (Rebecca); granddaughter, Josie Acosta; sister, Melody Hebert; and brother, Floyd Gomez. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Eula McDaniel; father-in-law, Lloyd Acosta, Sr. and mother-in-law, Josie M. Acosta; Aunt, “Nanny” Faye Montero; sister-in-law, Kathy Acosta; and nephew, Jude Jarreau.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, August 7, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be held prior to mass from 10:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Private interment will take place at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are: Jake Acosta, Damian Acosta, Cade Acosta, Jeremy Acosta, Ryan Waguespack, and Brennan Gauthreaux.
