

Shari "Nana" Paxton, 79, a beloved native of Baton Rouge, LA, and longtime resident of Dutchtown, LA, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Shari was a proud graduate of Dutchtown School and dedicated her life to her family and community. Shari was a devoted homemaker and found joy in serving as a teacher's aide at Dutchtown School. She cherished her time spent with students, nurturing their growth and learning. In her leisure, Shari found solace in the pages of her beloved books, relishing quiet moments of reading. She delighted in the company of her family and friends, sharing laughter and creating cherished memories. Shari's culinary skills were unmatched, and she found immense joy in cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. Additionally, she enjoyed maintaining her health and wellness through workouts at the health club and the occasional excursion to the casino. Shari is survived by her loving husband, Richard Paxton Sr.; devoted daughter, Terri (Bobby) Paxton; caring son, Troy (Shelli) Paxton; adoring grandchildren, Chase (Robyn) Paxton Nicosia and Brennan (Lacey) Edmond Paxton; cherished great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Pope, Kyliee Duck, and Parker Nicosia; and supportive sister-in-law, Claire "Tootie" Brown. She is preceded in death by her son, Richard Paxton Jr.; parents, Garvey "Shag" Duplessis and Mary Dedon Duplessis; beloved granddaughter, Lacie Paxton; in-laws, Eugene "Buck" Paxton and Rita Paxton; and her three siblings, Ronnie, Donnie, and Marilyn. Visitation will be held at St. John Catholic Church in Prairieville, LA, on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 11 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Prairieville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Prairieville Cemetery. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Hospice in His Care and caregiver, Tina Cavalier, for their compassionate support during Shari's final days.
