

Steven Lee "Big Daddy Steve" Fontenot, 35, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Gonzales, passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was a dedicated fabricator/fitter for John H. Carter and a die-hard LSU fan with a zest for life that extended to his love for gaming and spending quality time with family and friends. Steven was known for his great sense of humor, big personality, and his knack for giving people a hard time, all of which made him a cherished presence in the lives of those who knew him. Steven was preceded in death by his cousins, Timothy Ford and Charles Dupuy; and his maternal grandparents, Sharon Lee Sproles, Allen Dale Fontenot, and Charles Sproles, as well as his paternal grandparents, Sybil Vicknair Retif and Alfred Joseph Retif. He is survived by his loving wife, Harli Fontenot; his children, Landon Miller and spouse Kayleigh Stockton, Sly Fontenot, Eli Fontenot, Kai Fontenot, and Lee Fontenot; his parents, Kimberly Retif and Joseph "Joey" Retif; and his grandmother, Adelyn Retif. Steven also leaves behind his siblings, Chasitie White and Dakota White, Kylee Retif and Tyler Denson, Tori Firmin, and Joseph Firmin; as well as his nieces and nephews, Dakota Jr., Hallie, Camryn White, and Paislee Denson. He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of his first grandbaby, Baby Miller, in March 2025. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Fellowship Church, 14363 LA-73, Prairieville, LA 70769, on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 5 PM to 9 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, from 9 AM until the service at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Whitehall Cemetery. Pallbearers honored to serve will be Tony Dale, Dakota White, Gary White, Tyler Denson, Rusty Tullier, Andrew Abbess, Blain Marchand, and Brandon Landry. The family extends special thanks to the first responders, the medical staff at OLOL Ascension, and the friends and staff of P.P.E. and coworkers at BCBSLA for their support and care. In the hearts of those who knew him, Steven's spirit will remain vibrant and full of laughter. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of joy, love, and the unforgettable moments shared will continue to light our lives. As we say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that his laughter and stories will echo in our hearts forever, reminding us of a life lived fully and generously. Rest in peace, Big Daddy Steve—you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
