Theressa Denay Cowart

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Theressa Denay Cowart, who departed from this world on Wednesday April 23rd 2025 at the young age of 33. Theressa was a beloved young woman, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit even in the hardest of times. Born on May 1st 1991, Theressa spent her formative years in Prairieville, LA, where she cultivated deep connections and lifelong friendships.

Theressa was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend whose warmth and compassion extended beyond family to everyone she encountered. Her presence was a source of warmth and laughter, and she will be dearly missed. Throughout her life, Theressa exemplified resilience, facing challenges with unwavering courage. Her legacy is one of inspiration and hope, reminding us all to live with purpose and love.

Theressa was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Sharon “Kaye” Cowart & Janet Marie Fontenot; and Aunt Melanie Fontenot. She is survived by her grandfather, Tommy “Pug” Cowart; Parents, Joey & Paige Fontenot, Nicholas & Shai Plumer; Three children, Brendon Cowart, Dixie Musser and Mason Fontenot; One brother and sister-in-law, Christopher Fontenot & Morgan Higley; Two sisters, Katelyn and Rylee Plumer; Two nephews, Slade and Maddox Fontenot; Aunts, Connie Savage, Tkaye Hill and Denise Noyes; Uncle, Reese Cowart and a long list of cousins and close friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday April 30th at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA (5:00PM-8:00PM) where friends and family will gather to celebrate Theressa's extraordinary life. We extend our deepest condolences to Theressa's family and friends during this difficult time. Theressa's memory will forever remain in our hearts.
