Valmond "Butch" Joseph Porche

A native and resident of French Settlement passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 in French Settlement at the age of 70. He was a former pipefitter with the pipefitter/steamfitter Local Union #198 located in Baton Rouge, La. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in French Settlement from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian burial at 1:00 PM celebrated by Rev. Jason Palermo and assisted by Deacon Jimmy Little. Burial will follow at French Settlement Community Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Joan Smith Porche of French Settlement, 1 son: Chad J. Porche and Roni Smith of French Settlement, 1 sister: Mary P. Matherne of French Settlement, 2 brothers and 2 sisters-in-law: Alfred Porche, Jr. and Judy B. Porche of Foley, Alabama and Donald J. Porche and Linda S. Porche of French Settlement and 2 grandchildren: Austin J. Porche and Ethan W. Porche. He is also survived by 5 nieces: Theresa, Marla, Amanda, Sharmain and Shannon and 2 nephews: Kurt and Philip. He was preceded in death by his parents: Alfred August Porche, Sr. and Adolphine Roux Porche, 1 sister: Judith Porche, 1 brother-in-law: Odom Matherne and 1 niece: Donna A. Porche. Pallbearers will be Malcolm Watson, Ty Berthelot, Wade Johnson, Daniel Kais, Chris Saucier, Willie Saucier and Jackie Cockerham. Honorary pallbearers will be Austin Porche and Sy Berthelot. Mr. Butch was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #6753 Blessed Eugene of French Settlement where he served as Financial Secretary.
