

Vernon “Vern” Leon Sigrest, Jr., passed away on February 5, 2026, at the age of 68. He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather and great-grandfather, and a cherished son, brother, uncle, and “PiPi” to those who knew him best. He was a hardworking and dedicated man who spent many years of his career at the paper mill before retiring. Outside of work, he found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He loved fishing on Belle River and hunting with friends at the Chipola Hunting Club, where he built lasting friendships and memories he treasured deeply. Vernon will be remembered for his steady presence, strength, unwavering loyalty to family and the deep love he showed those around him. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he held so dear.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 12, 2026 from 10:00 am until time of service at 12:00 pm at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales, LA.
He is survived by his wife Carol Clements Sigrest of 36 loving years who was the love of his life and constant companion, brother Robert Sigrest (Kristie), daughters, Ashley Arceneaux (Brian) and Jennifer Dixon, grandchildren Rhagen Lastrapes (Michel), Koby Ficklin (Brendi), Shelbi Haydel and Stevie Gregoire, and great-grandchildren, Lillie, Knoll, Briggs, Nixon, Kai, Rowe, Kolsyn, and Kyndall, who brought him immense joy and pride.
Vern is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Frankie Clements (Sandy), Keith Andre’, and Kenny Carpenter. Nephews Daniel Andre’ and James Causey, Niece Kellie McGaha (Darryl) and numerous great-nieces and great nephews along with other beloved extended family members.
Vernon was proceeded in death by his parents Vernon Leon Sigrest, Sr. and Jeannette Rodriguez Sigrest, sisters Elaine Andre and Margaret Carpenter, brother Ramsey Sigrest, niece Jeannette Causey, Father-in-law Francis “Boo” Clements and Mother-in-law Pat Burt Clements.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the American Heart Association.
