

Victor Paul "Vicky" Bourque Sr., 79, of Dutchtown, Louisiana, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Born on August 26, 1946, in Gonzales, Louisiana, Vicky was the son of Leslie Paul "L.P." Bourque Jr. and Shirley Rita Mire Bourque, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Sheriff Vic Mire and Lena Mire, and Town Marshal Red Bourque and Eugenie Bourque. Vicky was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather known for his strong work ethic and quiet wisdom. At just 12 years old, he began working by shining shoes at his father's barber shop. By age 15, he owned and operated the Jungle House, a local teen hangout. He later built a successful career in real estate with Bourque Real Estate and contributed to several projects throughout the area, including Mid City Plaza, the Cajun Inn, Lake Martin, and many others. Throughout his career and life, Vicky was known as a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in providing for his family. He also faithfully served his community as commander of the American Legion and received multiple real estate awards over the years. Later in life, he worked with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, Hunt Correctional Center and Praxair Security before retiring on August 1, 2011. Vicky proudly served his country in the United States Army and lived by the values of duty, honor, and country. He never missed an opportunity to thank fellow veterans in public, especially the older veterans. Family was the center of Vicky's life. His proudest moments were the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed camping, traveling, playing cards, spending time with friends, and relaxing on the porch with his dog, Peanut, while watching the birds and squirrels. Vicky is survived by his loving wife of more than 60 years, Dianne Marie Braud Bourque of Dutchtown; his children Penny and Darren Amedee, Peggy and Eric Villavaso, Paula and Chris Robert, and Victor P. Bourque Jr. and Sheryl Bourque. He is also survived by his grandchildren Jacie Bondy, Jordan Amedee, Jolee Fontenot, Britta Villavaso, Tyler Villavaso, Burke Villavaso, Angelle Seeger, Danielle Thompson, Christopher Robert, Gabrielle Robert, Brittany Rouyea, and Braley Bourque, as well as 26 great-grandchildren. Vicky is also survived by his siblings Leslie Bourque III, Neal Bourque, Dawn Soileau, and Stacy Stephens. Vicky will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud "Pawpaw," loyal brother, faithful friend and a man of the calmest spirit and great wisdom. Those who knew him well often described him this way: "Don't underestimate me. I know more than I say, think more than I speak, and notice more than you realize." Pallbearers will be Jordan Amedee, Christopher Robert, Robin Rouyea, Tyler Villavaso, Andrew Seeger, Trent Bondy, TJ Fontenot, and Terry Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Burke Villavaso. Religious services will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 7th, 2026 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM and service will begin at 10:30 AM. He will be laid to rest in the Mausoleum at Hope Haven Cemetery in Prairieville, LA.
