

Virginia Josephine McLaughlin Stockton, a beloved mother, grandmother, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the age of 82. A longtime resident of Prairieville, Louisiana, Virginia was born in Winchester, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Virginia Killam McLaughlin. Virginia served her country honorably as a member of the United States Marine Corps. She carried her discipline, resilience, and sense of service throughout her life. Outside of her military service, she was a woman of many talents and interests. An avid reader and lifelong learner, Virginia found joy in art across all mediums and had a deep appreciation for vintage jewelry, which she loved collecting. She is survived by her three children: Theresa (Ralph) Crawford, Gerald (Tonia) Stockton II, and Nicole (Andrew) Mullins; five grandchildren; Gail (Brandon) Beach, Kayla-Ann (Dustin) Halbritter, Slade (Sally) Stockton, Oliver Crawford, and Josephine Mullins; and two great-grandchildren: Katelynn and Barrett. She also leaves behind her brother, William (Monica) McLaughlin. Virginia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gerald M. Stockton Sr.; her parents; and her brother, Joseph McLaughlin. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Port Hudson National Cemetery. In honor of Virginia’s lifelong love of reading, the family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to your local library. She will be remembered for her strength, creativity, and unwavering love for her family.
