

William Joseph "Billy" LaCombe, 65, a native of Algiers, LA and resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on July 21, 2024. Known to his friends as “Wild Bill” and to his family as “Sweet Bill”. Billy was an avid outdoorsman with a deep passion for hunting, fishing, and all things related to the great outdoors. His expertise extended to collecting guns and knives, mastering archery, and enjoying time on boats and working on cars. There was little about firearms or fishing that he did not know, demonstrating his skill in loading bullets, fly fishing, and bow fishing. Billy's kind-hearted nature was evident in his close relationships, especially with his mother, sister, nieces, and nephews. His enthusiasm for his hobbies was matched only by his love for nature and adventure. He will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Denise Melancon LaCombe; his father, Forest J. LaCombe Jr.; his brother, Forest J. LaCombe III; his niece, Abby Layne LaCombe; and his grandparents, Forest J. LaCombe Sr., Claire Wattigney LaCombe, Clinton A. Lauman, and Norita Henly Lauman. He is survived by his mother, Irene Lauman LaCombe; his sister, Kelly (Nick) LaCombe Milano; his brother, Adam J. (Paula) LaCombe; his nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Carrie, Mark, Kevin Michael, Alix, Nicholis, and Lexi; his great nieces and nephews, Fecility, Emma, Lillian, Cleore, Ethan, Madison, Lil Mark, Kase, Kolt, Kaine, and Remy; and his stepson, Damond Bartlett and family. He is also survived by uncle and aunt, Clifford “Mike” and Rita Lohman, and his aunt, Carol Phillips; and a host of cousins. The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff at Clarity Hospice of Baton Rouge for their exceptional care and compassion for Billy and his family. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, July 29, 2024 from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am. Burial will follow at Hope Haven Garden of Memory on Hwy 30.
