Wilmon “Butch” Little, 75, of French Settlement passed away Friday May 26, 2017 under the care of St. Joseph Hospice in The Carpenter House of Baton Rouge. Butch was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle. “Coach” Little earned his Master’s Degree in Administration and was employed during his career with Ascension Parish School System, St. James Parish School System and Livingston Parish School System. He was Vice Principal and Principal at East Ascension High School. Butch coached in each school system and loved his students. Butch was very well known for his athletic abilities and his love for coaching and teaching young people.
Much has been and will be written about his many accomplishments. But his greatest accomplishments are his absolute love for his family and life. He married his sweetheart Diane and was blessed with 4 children. (One of his babies is in heaven). He was so excited God sent him 2 sons and a daughter. He could do what he loved most (coach) with the ones he loved most! That was his dream. And he got to live it that dream!
Butch was blessed to have 7 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He loved each and every one in their own special way. He was blessed to have special times with each of them. He was a very proud “Paw Butch”. He continued to brag about them as they started growing up, making their way into the world.
He also had many nephews and nieces that he loved. The Little family is a sports family; so he got to enjoy many hours of sharing tips about basketball, watching games, and just enjoying all of them. “Uncle” Butch was quite an entertaining person!
Six years ago, he started a new chapter later in his life when he met and married "his Tricia". He made a city girl happier than she thought she could ever be! They were blessed to have almost 6 years together and Butch ended living his life where it all started: in French Settlement
When you remember Butch; remember that smile, and that infectious joy he had. He loved life! Love life in memory of him!
Butch leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife Patricia Montgomery Little; daughter Nicole DeSouge (Clint); sons Jeff Little (Rose) and Greg Little; brothers James Little (Elaine) and Curtis Little; grandchildren Colby Little (Jaime), Catherine Little (fiancé’ Ethan Guidry), Caroline Little, Brennan Little, Jordan, Cameron and Cade DeSouge; and great granddaughter Riley Ann Little.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur & Marie Aline Little; brother Arthur Little, Jr.; son Wilmon Little, Jr. and previous wife Diane Hutchinson Little.
Butch requested that everyone attending his services wear comfortable clothing. His request is to buried in a “coaching” shirt, with the name of each school of his career written on it. Please feel free to wear the colors of your school that you knew him from.
