Helen Virginia Ballard Vaughn, 91, passed away Monday, March 21, 2016 under the care of HighPoint Hospice after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She was born Sunday, February 22, 1925 in Florence, AL and is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Gertrude Ballard; siblings, Sybil and Billy.
Mrs. Vaughn is survived by her husband of 61 years, James Harold Vaughn; children, Cindy (Morris) Jones, Jayme (Mike) Pierce, Gina (Mark) Hutson; siblings, Bettie, Vicki, Mark; 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She had a spirited soul who shared her love of music by singing and performing in her later years. A member of Northside Church of Christ, she dedicated her life to her faith, her family and her music; she performed with the Madison Station Express; volunteered at Bellshire Elementary and the girl schouts.
A celebration of life will be conducted 12:00 Wednesday, March 23, 2016 in the chapel of Forest Lawn with James Seigenthaler officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Ron Hertzka, Nate Hertzka, Ben Hill, Brandon Hill, Luke Hutson; great-grandsons, Austin Swayze, Kaleb Swayze.
Family and friends will gather to remember Mrs. Vaughn at a visitation Tuesday, March 22, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 and two hours prior to the service on Wednesday.
