Hubert Mitchell Sr.

Hubert Mitchell, Sr. – Age 88 of Goodlettsville, TN, passed away on January 13, 2013 in Nashville, TN. Mr. Mitchell is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Vula B. Mitchell, married on August 26, 1949. He is survived by a loving family, daughters, Robbie (Dennis) Mues, Linda (Kenneth) Pond, and son, Hubert (Phyllis) Mitchell. He was “Papa” to eight grandchildren, John (Dana) Davis, Rachael (Daniel) Johnson, Atlee Pond, Travis (Shane Ann) Pond, Rebecca (Eric) Johns, Jennifer Mitchell (Adam Helm), Sarah (Jeramy) Ezell, and Matthew Mitchell (Madalyn Chaffin), and nine great grandchildren, Lane, Silas, Aidan, Savannah, Abigail, Ansley, Jolee, Camdyn, and Traven; four sisters, Ruthene Marlin, Annette Boyd, Dixie Short, Mildred Farmer, and one brother Henry (Dorothy) Mitchell. Mr. Mitchell was born on February 9, 1924 in DeKalb County, TN and lived most of his life in Sumner County. He attended the Millersville Church of Christ for over 50 years, where he also served as an Elder. He was employed by Ford Glass Plant for over 25 years. He was in the United States Navy during World War II, 2nd Class Petty Officer, and a member of the Amphibious Force aboard L.S.T. 171-902. The funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 16th, at the Forest Lawn Chapel with Frank Fox officiating. Visitation Tuesday, 11:00 – 8:00 and 10:00 until service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Grandsons, great-grandson, and granddaughters’ husbands will serve as Pallbearers. Interment will follow at the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
