Born in Charleston, Missouri, Jerry learned the value of hard work from an early age. He was self-employed for much of his life, running his own businesses All-American Restaurant Equipment Co. and Jerry’s Refrigeration Service in Nashville.
Though Jerry claims he was bashful in his early years, he later earned a talent for talking to anyone and everyone–just ask the many restaurant servers and grocery store employees whom he made laugh. He would often surprise neighbors with fresh vegetables from the garden at his home in East Nashville, which he shared with his wife, Wanda Faye Edwards. They enjoyed dancing together at Robert’s Western World and visiting campgrounds in their RV.
Jerry loved watching Westerns and was a great collector–from beer steins to hard-won stuffed animal prizes. Jerry also had a beautiful voice and enjoyed singing with friends at “The Jam” at FiftyForward in Madison.
Jerry’s Christian faith was very important to him. Over the years, he was a member of both Faith is the Victory Church and Bellshire Assembly of God in Nashville. He was also an ardent supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Faye, whom he married on June 20, 2008. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Blunk; his first wife and mother of his children, Harriet D. Wiley; his sons Brian Keith Wiley (Sue) and Robert Gene Wiley; stepchildren Celia Jackson, Angela Edwards, Jefferson Edwards (Tisha) and Erin Edwards (Fiteh); grandchildren Christopher Wiley, Amanda Carrell, April Morris, Daniel Wiley, Roy Wiley and Brandon Wiley; and numerous other step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother, Katheryn Barnes, and his eldest son Larry David Wiley (Sharon), who passed away 13 years ago on the same date, March 22.
Services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens, 1150 Dickerson Road, Goodlettsville, TN 37072.
Public visitation will take place noon-2 p.m., followed by a chapel service at 2 p.m. A graveside service will take place immediately afterwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
