The second of four children, Lottie Dale was born in Union Hill, Tennessee on May 28, 1931, to the late Frank Miles Redding and Ollie Ayers Redding. Lottie is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Lloyd Proctor; brothers, Frank Miles Redding, Jr. and Lee Boyd Redding; her sister-in-law, Doris Redding; and Lloyd’s son, Jerry Proctor.
Lottie is survived by her son, Robert Guy (Carrie), daughter, Brenda Wagner (Doug), and sister, Edna Redding Burlason (Joe). As a loving grandmother, she adored her grandchildren, Heather Guy Meekins (Jeremy), Joshua Guy (Janie), and Michelle White (Billy). Lottie was blessed to have 7 great-grandchildren, Benjamin Meekins, AJ Meekins, Garrett Meekins, Lucas Guy, Morgan White Litchford (Arthur), Madison White Goad, and Will White (Skylar). Her joy didn’t stop with all those great-grandchildren. Lottie had 2 great-great grandsons, Bently Goad and Dawson Goad. Lottie was also an amazing aunt to her two nephews, Lee Redding (Susie) and Calvin Redding (Tina Pack), and nieces, Michelle Burlason See (Mark) and Melissa Burlason; great-niece, Ashley Carroll (JB); and great-nephews, Daniel See, and Michael See.
As a teenager, Lottie went to work at Harvey’s Department Store in Nashville. Next, she worked at The Flying Saucer, a restaurant in Goodlettsville. Then she travelled to Michigan with her cousin, Madeline Newton Akin, to work at a car factory. After returning to Tennessee, Lottie met and married James Guy. She stayed home to keep the cleanest house in Union Hill and help work in the Redding Peach orchard. She would say her most important role was becoming a mother to Robert. When Robert was three, Lottie and Madeline teamed up again to work at a factory in Nashville for a short time before Lottie quit, staying home to run a household and take care of Robert. Lottie would eventually retire from working for the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County.
Lottie married Lloyd Proctor in 1986. Lottie and Lloyd loved traveling. Often, they woke up and decided that it was a great day for a trip. They would throw clothes together and hit the road. Lloyd and Lottie had many adventures with Lloyd’s cousin, Margaret and her husband, Theo, in their van, traveling across the USA taking in the sights. Lottie and Lloyd enjoyed their retirement together. They loved spending time with their family.
Lottie spent the last 5 years living at Park Place Retirement in Hendersonville where she made very special friends with so many of the residents and employees. She looked forward to mealtimes so she could catch-up with Betty, Brenda, and Jean. Lottie had helpful Caregivers and many dedicated Nurses, who not only took care of her daily physical needs, but also made Lottie’s days brighter with the love and extra attention they showered on her. Lottie loved when they popped in to sit and visit. The Cafeteria Staff were also known for spoiling Lottie with an extra helping or a large serving here and there!
Lottie was a born-again Christian who loved and trusted her Savior, who walked beside her during both good and bad times. Lottie gave Christ the glory for healing her many years ago from her battle with Cancer. Lottie leaned on her faith to get her through her daily trials. She had many health challenges during the last few years. Lately, Lottie was looking forward to the day she would join her Heavenly Father, living pain-free with all her loved ones in Paradise.
