On Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 our Superman, Mark Allen Henson, donned his cape and flew up, up and away.
Watching over all of us, his friends and family, He is now amongst the stars, a part of the universe and forever in our hearts.
Born and raised in Indianapolis, IN. Tuesday, October 25, 1966, he relocated with family to Lake Berryessa in his teens where he attended and graduated from Napa High School, class of 1985. During his years in Napa, he made many lifelong friends that will fondly remember his outgoing, humorous, offbeat and optimistic spirit. Mark worked in the hospitality industry and for an in-home care provider where he met and touched the lives of many with his smile and his caring nature.
Passionate about movies, both old and new, a toy collector and an enthusiast of the absurd, Mark found humor in anything unusual and had the art of helping you appreciate and understand what he saw. Mark described himself as "A goofy, geek, man-boy who is constantly amazed at the beauty, horror, joy and pain that life is".
Settling down in Nashville, TN. in 2001; Mark made many new friends, reconnected with old ones and met his life partner and husband, Bob Wooden. Mark is also survived by his father, James A. Henson, step-mother, Deanna Henson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Danny and Kendra Wooden; sister-in-law, Rachel Wooden. He is preceded in death by his mother Barbara Roark.
Mark was employed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he took some time off to battle Non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He was in recovery when he took flight.
A celebration of Mark’s life will be held at 3pm, Sunday, January 5, 2014. Please bring photos and share your stories of Mark's incredible life with everyone.
