Vivian Muzette Thaxton Byars, 104, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025. She was born Saturday, April 16, 1921 in Waycross, Georgia to the late Edward and Lillian Ethel Bullard; also, she is preceded by her husband of 47 years, D.W. Thaxton, Jr, and husband of 14 years, Hobson Byars; daughter, Muzette Sexton; son, Winston Thaxton, III, grandson, Gregg Davis; son-in-law, Steve Tyrrell; sisters, Isabel Jeffords, Ethel Maude Bowen, Edna Crawford; brother, Herbert Bullard.
A homemaker and member of the Nashville First Church of The Nazarene and the Victory Class, she is survived by her children, Nancy (Jack) Galloway, Wanda (Mike) Davis, Kathy Tyrrell; daughter-in-law, Joy Thaxton; son-in-law, Ralph Sexton; nine grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and 7 soon to be 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather to remember Ms Muzette at a visitation Saturday, July 12, 2025 from 9:30 until 11:00 at Nashville First Church of The Nazarene, 510 Woodland Street, Nashville, Tennessee 37206 followed by a Celebration of Life in Victory Chapel with Pastor Jack Galloway and Dr. Ralph Sexton officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
