Born in Florence, Alabama on January 14, 1940.

Survived by his loving wife Peggy Wright Haynes; children, William Lee Haynes Jr., Lori Haynes (David) Rains; grandchildren, Brandon Skler Haynes, Hunter Rains Burris, Carson Hickman Rains, Darby Leigh Rains, and Thomas Benjamin Rains; great grandchildren, Julianna Haynes, Eliajah Haynes, Jamison F Burris, Lyla Rhea Burris and Saylor Belle Rains; sister, Patricia Haynes Wall.
Bill attended East High School and excelled in baseball and track. He was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes as well as a member of the East High School Baseball and Track Team. He attended Tennessee Tech University on a baseball scholarship. After a year he transferred to Florence State University in Alabama where he met his wife Peggy Carolyn Wright. They were married 59 years. Bill worked as a claims adjuster and Regional manager with State Farm Insurance Company, Home Insurance Company and American General.
Visitation Sunday August 16, 2020 12:30pm till graveside service at 3pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
