Born July 20, 1942, in Selma, Alabama, he lived in Alabama, Georgia, Colorado, and Florida before settling in Tennessee. He worked in logistics for a majority of his life until he retired from J.B. Hunt over ten years ago. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson’s and playing cards, games on his computer, and telling stories to anyone who would listen. Bill never met a stranger and loved giving unique presents to friends and family.
Survivors include his son, Brett and wife Melissa Ivey, daughter, Melissa and husband Chris Petrocco, sister, Joan Bingham, four grandsons, C.J., Connor, Aidan, and Kelland, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. William Edward Ivey, Sr., and his mother, Elsa O. Barnes.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 4, 2016. In lieu of flowers we ask that you make a donation in Bill’s name to your local Humane Society. Bill loved animals, especially his dog Confucius.
