Duise C. Barnes, also known as ‘Cat’ to some family members, was born October 16th, 1971 on Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ, to Forrest L. Miller and Leslie R. Kendrick. She lived in Arizona, Kansas, Germany, California, and Missouri in her youth until her return to her home state of AZ in ‘96, where she lived until her passing. Duise was a wife, mother, homemaker, teacher, and dear friend to many. Duise also held a BA in Science of Landscape Architecture from ASU. Duise was an avid foodie and cyclist, and she enjoyed walking and visiting unique gardens and historical sites. Duise was a devout Christian since she was 5 years old, and her faith was integral to her entire life. Her life passage was Philippians 4:11-13. Duise was diagnosed with heart failure in late 2023, followed by breast cancer in 2024. Duise used natural methods of healing along with conventional medicine to treat her various medical conditions, and she was taken care of in-home by her husband and daughters. Duise fought hard for 2 years until the Lord called her home on November 20th, surrounded by her children and husband. Duise is survived by her husband Aaron, her daughters Tabitha and Rey, her son Etienne (Eva), her grandson Quentin, her brother Tony, her father Forrest, along with many of her nieces, nephews, and cousins. Duise was deeply loved and will forever be missed.
“ Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:11-13 NKJV
