Jerold J. Hassman Sr., age 90, of Goodyear, Arizona, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2025. Born on March 9, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jerold lived a life defined by faith, family, and service.
A graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School, Jerold proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran. He later retired from USA/CSA after a long and dedicated career. A man of deep faith, Jerold was a member of the choir at Incarnation Catholic Church in Olney, Pennsylvania, where his voice lifted the spirits of many.
Jerold was a devoted husband to Sally J. Hassman until her passing in 2010. Together, they built a life centered on family, raising children who carry forward his legacy of love and commitment. He is survived by his children: Jerold J. Hassman Jr., Paul J. Hassman, Marianne Hassman, Christine Knierim, and Joan Shutt; grandchildren Paula J. Thompson, Zackary C. Hassman, Jerold Paul Hassman, and Shawn Kelly; great-grandchildren James Jerold Hassman and Gabriel Elijah Hassman; and his brother Anthony Lizut.
Jerold was a quiet, thoughtful man whose words carried meaning and care. He led by example, teaching responsibility and dedication through his actions. He cherished summers at the family cabin on Wilsons Lake, NJ, where he spent countless hours swimming, fishing, hosting cookouts, and celebrating birthdays. He loved card games with family and friends and encouraged his children to pursue their interests, always finding a way to be involved—whether through little league, Boy Scouts, or father-daughter activities.
After retiring, Jerold and Sally moved to Arizona to be closer to their grandchildren, where he volunteered at a local elementary school and continued his lifelong commitment to family. Following Sally’s passing, Jerold traveled extensively, creating new memories with his daughters Christine and Joan. In his later years, he enjoyed weekly poker games, watching sports, and connecting with loved ones through visits and video calls.
Jerold lived a full and meaningful life, passing on his own terms. He is now one with the Lord, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and family.
“Family is not an important thing. It’s everything.” – Michael J. Fox
Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Jerold’s memory by spending time with loved ones and cherishing the moments that matter most.
