

Joseph John Meade Jr., age 77, of Goodyear, Arizona passed away on February 5, 2025. He was born on March 14, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph John Meade Sr. and Helen Meade. The eldest of five children, Joe had a passion for basketball during his teenage years, playing on several community-sponsored teams, including the CYO and the New York Mirror.
Joe graduated from Sts. Cyril & Methodius School in June 1960 and later from Boys High School on June 24, 1964. In August 1967, Joe was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served in Vietnam as a sergeant. Before his deployment, he married his beloved wife, Christine, on July 27, 1968. They were married for 56 years. Joe was honorably discharged from the Army on August 28, 1969.
Joe was a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Christine, their son Joseph Meade III (Nicole), and daughter Jacquelyn Wolf (Erik). He was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren: triplets Nicholas, Kelly, and Daniel Wolf (Jacquelyn’s children), and Joseph and Ryan Meade (Joseph III’s children). He is also survived by his siblings: Deborah Kakol (Lester), James Meade (Yen), and Jerold Meade (Loreli).
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Sr. and Helen Meade, and his brother John Meade.
Joe retired from the U.S. Postal Service on April 1, 2002, after 32 years of service. Throughout his life, he lived by three key priorities: God first, family and friends second, and his country third.
Joe will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel in Goodyear, on Monday, February 17, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with a Prayer Service at 3:30 PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday, February 18, at the Funeral Chapel from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 13720 W Thomas Road, Avondale at 10:30 AM. Burial will take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) or the Tunnel to Towers Foundation
