Kenneth Paul Converse, 71, (“Kenny” to friends and family) passed peacefully in his home in Avondale, Arizona on January 28, 2026. A second-generation Arizonan, he was born in Prescott, Arizona on October 15, 1954. It’s notable that his grandfather worked for the infamous Fred Harvey Company which owned a chain of restaurants, hotels and other hospitality industry businesses alongside railroads in the Western United States. That ultimately brought him from Kansas to Arizona. The elder Mr. Converse eventually managed the historic Del Rio Ranch in Chino Valley, Arizona, where Kenny’s father grew up.
Kenny was known as a man whose strength and wit was matched only by his heartfelt love for family. He leaves behind a legacy of toughness, kindness, and unforgettable stories. Kenny was an avid sportsman sharing his family’s lifelong passion for hunting and fishing. Photography was also a hobby he truly enjoyed. Having a creative eye for composition and unique framing he left us with many picturesque and memorable images. And Kenny could well be considered an accomplished pitmaster, enjoying smoking meat and barbecuing.
Starting out as a young survey crew member, Kenny began his lifelong career of over 50 years as a Professional Land Surveyor, specializing in construction surveying and highly respected by his peers. He held that his work was always interesting and challenging as surveying technology advanced. He remained proficient and skillful at employing it to a variety of construction projects throughout the state including highways, subdivisions, shopping centers, airports, and light rail. He considered his current management position with T2 Utility Engineers the highlight of his career.
Kenny was devoted to his Christian faith, having completed studies in pastoral leadership. He was an ordained minister with a heart for those who are struggling and seeking their path to God. We are comforted he has passed from this earthly realm to the glories of heaven that we can only imagine.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Pat Converse of Prescott Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Kim and sister Judy Rojas (Ernie) of Prescott Valley, Arizona. He was an adored “Uncle Kenny” to an ever-expanding family of nieces and nephews and will be sorely missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be announced later.
