Mary Patricia Fuccillo was born Mary Patricia Halloran on October 28, 1928 in Alton, Illinois. She was the only child of Simon Halloran and Florence Fitzgerald. Her father Simon died when she was six months old. “Pat” was her mother’s caretaker for many years from the age of 8 to 18. Her mother died at 43.
After high school graduation, Pat moved to St Louis, Missouri where she worked as a secretary for insurance companies. She met Domenic Fuccillo, a US Air Force Sergeant, at a USO dance in Illinois. They dated long distance for four years - Domenic in Maine, Pat in California - before marrying on July 11, 1953.
Domenic and Pat moved throughout the United States to accommodate Domenic’s career changes, raising four children - Carol, David, Michael, and Kate.
They also “adopted” others along the way, and consistently kept in touch.
In the late 1980’s, Domenic was offered a job in Hyderabad, India. They spent a few years there and loved the Indian culture.
Pat was heavily involved in church activities when her children were young. She was also politically active - in the early 1960’s, she marched against the KKK in Tennessee.
She was an accomplished pianist with a beautiful alto singing voice. She especially loved show tunes.
Pat was predeceased by her husband of 70 years, Domenic.
She leaves behind her children, Carol (Ken) Koppelman, David (Lee) Fuccillo, Michael (Katie) Fuccillo, and Katherine (Matt) Hemingway; five grandchildren, Katy (Eric) Worthington, Nikki (Justin Parker) Fuccillo, Tony (Hirome) Fuccillo, Alex Fuccillo, Asha Hemingway; and five great grandchildren, Emma, Lilly, Sarah, Maelyn, and Henry Lee.
