
Robert "Rob" Sibelius, born on June 16, 1939, in White Plains, New York and then lived his formative years in Darien, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024, at the age of 85, with his immediate family by his side. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a true friend to many.
Rob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carol Sibelius, who resides in Montrose, Colorado. He was the proud father of his son, Troy Sibelius, and his wife, Shelly, who live in Denver, Colorado, and his daughter, Tracey Sibelius, and her husband, Moe Moran, who live in Phoenix, Arizona. Rob was also a cherished grandfather to his grandson, Colton, in Denver, and his granddaughter, Sydney, in San Francisco, California, children of Troy and Shelly. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Eric Sibelius, and his wife, Ellen, and their three children from Durango, Colorado.
After graduating college, Rob served in the US Army and was stationed in Hawaii, where he met his future wife, Carol, who was there on vacation. After completing his military service and maintaining a long-distance relationship with Carol, Rob traveled to Denver to visit her. They were soon married and started their new life together in Denver.
Rob graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Agricultural Economics. An avid hunter, outdoorsman, and golfer, Rob loved spending time in nature, fishing, camping, and playing golf. His passion for the outdoors was evident in the mountain cabin he and the family built by hand near Kremmling, Colorado, a cherished legacy that will continue to be a place of many memories for his friends and loved ones.
In his professional life, Rob was a true professional and dedicated leader. He was the President and majority owner of Keller Lowry Insurance in Denver from 1974 to 2010. He took pride in his work and played a significant role in bringing his son, Troy, into the business, ensuring that his legacy would continue.
Rob's love for the mountains was matched by his fondness for family vacations in Cabo San Lucas, where many treasured memories were made. His dedication to his family, his work, and his community left an indelible mark on those around him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by his loved ones.
A celebration of life will be held during the summer of 2025. Friends and family will be notified when details are determined.
