Sandra Lee Rathe

Sandra L. Rathe, age 80, of Goodyear, Arizona passed away unexpectedly at her home on August 8, 2024, just before her 81st birthday. She was born August 13, 1943 in Caro Michigan to Fred and Margaret Starkey. Sandy was united in marriage to Richard Rathe on September 28, 1979 in Wheaton, Illinois.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Richard on September 4, 2017; both of her parents in 1983, her brother Gerald Starkey in 2018, and sister Geraldine Quinn on July 20, 2024. She is survived by her nieces Yvonne (Pat) Greiner and Annie (Mike) Saunders; her nephews Geoff (Carol) Quinn, Fred (Rita) Quinn, and Jim (Cheryl) Starkey; as well as her other extended family and friends.

Sandy loved to travel and she loved her animals – especially her cats. She was a devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews and loved her family. Sandy worked for United Airlines in Wheaton, Illinois until her retirement when she moved to Goodyear in 1997. During her retirement, she worked at Kohl’s for enjoyment. Sandy enjoyed life and spending time with her family in Michigan. We will miss her very much. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or to local animal rescues.
