Shirley was a beautiful, funny, loving, generous, and deeply forgiving woman who cherished animals, enjoyed ice cream at any hour of the day, and never missed the chance to share a good joke. She was an award-winning watercolor artist, known for her ability to capture the soul of every animal that she painted.
Shirley was born in Eagle Pass, TX to Carrie and Hilmar Frick and lived a life rich in creativity, compassion, and faith. Her home was filled with the joyful chaos of the many animals she loved and cared for throughout her life-including six dogs and two cats who adored her.
Shirley had complete faith in Jesus Christ, and her devotion brought her comfort, strength, and hope throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Carrie and Hilmar Frick, her sister Naomi Henning, her husband Charles Bennett, her son Gregory Scott Key, and many beloved pets who held a special place in her heart.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Jennifer Key, and nieces Amy Cox and Renee Cox. She will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her.
Services will be held at Phoenix Central Community of Christ 4224 N 44th St. Phoenix, AZ 85018 on February 14th at 11 am. A reception will follow at the reception hall where family and friends are invited to share memories and celebrate her life.
